The short version
- Ask questions freely, disagree about the work, and keep it professional.
- Harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination and bullying are not tolerated, online or offline.
- Your work must be honestly your own. AI use follows our Responsible AI policy.
- What happens in the cohort stays in the cohort: recordings, chats, screenshots and other people’s work.
- If something is wrong, tell us. Nobody is penalised for raising a genuine concern.
1. Who and where this applies
This code applies to every Elimu Sasa learner in live sessions, one-to-one reviews, cohort chats and groups, our learning platform, events, and any other space connected with your course, including messages sent outside official channels to people you met through Elimu Sasa. Instructors and mentors follow our Instructor, Mentor & Alumni Mentor Code.
2. Respect
Treat instructors, mentors, staff and other learners with courtesy. Give feedback on the work, not the person. Let others speak, and remember that people join from different backgrounds, experience levels and connections.
3. Harassment, discrimination and bullying
The following are never acceptable:
- harassment, meaning unwanted conduct that violates someone’s dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile or humiliating environment;
- sexual harassment, including unwelcome sexual comments, advances, requests, images or messages;
- discrimination on grounds such as race, ethnicity, tribe, sex, gender, pregnancy, marital status, health status, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language or birth;
- bullying, including repeated belittling, exclusion, intimidation or threats; and
- abusive or threatening language, and sharing violent or explicit material.
4. Academic integrity
Certificates mean something only if the work behind them is genuine. You must not:
- submit someone else’s work, or work produced for you by another person, as your own;
- copy other learners’ projects or let others copy yours;
- fabricate results, data, references or client feedback; or
- let someone else attend sessions or complete assessments in your place.
Working together is encouraged where a brief allows it, as long as you are clear about who did what.
5. Responsible AI use
AI is part of how many of our courses work. Use it as explained in our Responsible AI Use policy, follow the AI rules for each assessment, and disclose AI use where required. You remain responsible for anything you submit.
6. Privacy and confidentiality
- Do not share other learners’ personal information, contact details or work outside the cohort without their permission.
- Respect the confidentiality of real client information used in briefs.
- Do not put other people’s personal data or confidential information into AI tools or public websites.
7. Recordings and screenshots
Do not record, download, screenshot or share live sessions, chats or other people’s contributions unless the instructor has made a recording available to the cohort or the people involved have agreed. Recordings provided by Elimu Sasa are for your cohort’s learning only.
8. Cybersecurity and acceptable use
- Keep your login details private and use a strong password.
- Do not try to access accounts, systems or information you are not authorised to use.
- Do not upload malware or misuse course tools, including tools that test security, outside an approved exercise.
- If you notice a security problem, report it rather than exploring it. See Report a Concern.
9. Cohort communication
Keep cohort groups and chats focused on learning and supportive of each other. Do not use them for unrelated advertising, chain messages or political or religious campaigning. Instructors may remove messages that break this code.
10. Boundaries with instructors and mentors
Mentors review work in booked sessions and cohort channels. They do not do your project for you, and they do not take private paid work from learners during a course. Please do not ask them to. If any instructor or mentor behaves in a way that makes you uncomfortable, report it.
11. Reporting a concern
If you experience or see behaviour that breaks this code, email info@elimusasa.com, tell any instructor, or use our Report a Concern page. Reports are handled with reasonable confidentiality, and we aim to respond within five working days. If someone is at immediate risk of harm, contact emergency services first.
12. No retaliation
Nobody will be penalised for raising a genuine concern in good faith, or for helping with an investigation. Retaliating against someone who has raised a concern is itself a serious breach of this code.
13. How we respond
We respond in proportion to what happened. Depending on how serious it is, outcomes may include:
- an informal conversation and a reminder of expectations;
- a written warning;
- a requirement to redo or resubmit work, or a failed assessment;
- temporary removal from sessions or channels;
- withdrawal of a certificate; or
- removal from the course.
Before deciding on a formal outcome, we will tell you about the concern, give you a fair chance to respond, and consider any relevant circumstances. Where people may be at risk, we may take immediate temporary steps while we look into it.
14. Review and appeal
If you disagree with a formal outcome, you can ask for it to be reviewed by writing to info@elimusasa.com within 10 working days of the decision, explaining why. The review will be carried out by someone who was not involved in the original decision, where practical.
