The short version
- You earn a certificate by doing the work: attending, completing practical projects and having them reviewed and signed off by a mentor.
- A certificate shows the course, the cohort and the practical work behind it.
- It is not a degree, national diploma, professional licence or government qualification.
- Anyone can check a certificate is genuine, and the check shows only what is needed.
- If you disagree with an assessment decision, you can appeal.
1. How we assess
Elimu Sasa assesses what you can do, not just what you can remember. Assessment is based mainly on practical projects that resemble real work, reviewed by instructors and mentors with relevant experience. Each course page and course brief explains its assessments and deadlines.
2. Attendance
Live sessions are a core part of learning. Where a course sets an attendance requirement, it is stated in the course information, and attendance alone does not earn a certificate. If you know you will miss sessions, tell your instructor early so we can agree how to catch up.
3. Practical projects and assessments
- Projects are assessed against the criteria set out in the brief.
- Some courses include quizzes, assignments or practical tasks on our learning platform.
- Feedback explains what met the standard and what needs more work.
4. Mentor reviews
A named mentor reviews your work in one-to-one or small group sessions. Mentors give practical feedback and decide whether a project meets the standard for sign-off. Mentor notes are private records used for learning and assessment, and are not published.
5. Capstone projects
Where a course includes a capstone, it brings together the skills from the course in a larger piece of work, sometimes for a real organisation. Capstones with real clients may involve confidentiality requirements, which we will explain before you start.
6. AI-assisted work
Each assessment states how AI may be used, following our Responsible AI Use policy. Where disclosure is required, explain which tools you used and how. You must be able to explain and defend any work you submit, and we may ask you to walk us through it.
7. Resubmission
If a project does not yet meet the standard, you will normally be given feedback and a chance to resubmit within the timeframe set for your course. The number of resubmissions may be limited, and it is stated in the course information.
8. Academic integrity
Work you submit must be your own, with permitted help and AI use disclosed as required. Copying, fabricating results or having someone else do the work breaches our Learner Code of Conduct and can lead to a failed assessment, removal from the course or withdrawal of a certificate.
9. What a certificate means
An Elimu Sasa certificate confirms that you completed the named course with the named cohort and that your required practical work was reviewed and signed off by a practitioner. Where you agree, it can link to the projects behind it, so anyone checking can see the work rather than take our word for it.
10. What a certificate is not
An Elimu Sasa certificate is not a degree, a national diploma, a professional licence or a government qualification, and we do not present it as one. Unless a specific programme page says otherwise and the accreditation has been independently confirmed, our certificates are not accredited by a government body or examination council.
[To confirm: any accreditation or recognition for a specific programme, with reference number, before it is mentioned here]
11. Certificate verification
Each certificate has a unique certificate number. Employers and others can verify a certificate on our website or by emailing info@elimusasa.com. A verification shows only:
- the learner’s name;
- the course and cohort;
- the completion or issue date;
- the certificate number and whether it is valid; and
- where the graduate has agreed, the reviewing mentor and links to their portfolio projects.
Verification never shows phone numbers, private email addresses, ID numbers, detailed marks, payment information or mentor notes.
12. Portfolio links
Graduate portfolios and project pages are published only with the graduate’s explicit, recorded permission, and only where any client involved has agreed. You can ask us to update or remove your portfolio at any time.
13. Errors and corrections
If your certificate contains an error, such as a misspelt name or wrong date, tell us at info@elimusasa.com and we will correct and reissue it. We keep a record of corrections so verification stays accurate.
14. Withdrawing a certificate
We will withdraw a certificate if we find that the work behind it was not the learner’s own, that it was issued in error, or that it was obtained dishonestly. Before withdrawing a certificate, we will tell the learner and give them a fair chance to respond. A withdrawn certificate will show as not valid on verification.
15. Appeals
If you believe an assessment decision is wrong, for example because the criteria were not applied correctly or something affected your performance that we did not know about, you can appeal in writing to info@elimusasa.com within 10 working days of the decision. Someone not involved in the original decision will review it where practical, and we will explain the outcome in writing.
